I would like to tell you that my work area doesn't always look like this but the truth is, it very often does. I usually work in about 12 inches square. I have a tendency to toss things when I'm creating. I always need one more piece of paper or another brush or some doo dad.
What is odd is at my day job my desk is neat and tidy more often than not. There is something about creating that frees me to be as messy and playful as I want. This use to concern me but not anymore. This is the creative me. The happiest me and I'm embracing every messy inch of her.
Seth Apter is hosting a honest look at our workspaces over on his blog this week so I'm linking to his blog. Thanks to Seth Apter for this idea and for allowing me to play along.
Love such a creative space. I would work like this, no problem, but I have no choice but to be tidy as I use the dining table. Have a good day Boo :D
ReplyDeletelove it - I don't feel so bad now
ReplyDeleteI know what you mean. I love it that I'm not alone in my mess!!
DeleteI think mess enhances creativity . . . that's my take anyway. Thanks for the peek into your space.
ReplyDeleteGreat space and love your piles of creativity!
ReplyDeleteThanks!! I can't seem to get away from my piles.
DeleteWell, Boo, if you have the courage to post this, then I will do the same tonight or tomorrow...whenever I get a chance to photograph my space.
ReplyDeleteExcellent mess! I have a twin 'tower of tape' on my side table.
ReplyDeleteI love my tape tower it's so handy. Glad to know I'm not the only one with one.
DeleteThank you so much for sharing! I LOVE messing and tossing! And you are right - it is the only place where I allow myself to be that messy ;). Feel very much at home with your creative spot!
ReplyDeleteGreetings from Vienna,
Claudia x
My whole house is turning into my art space and I'm loving it.
DeleteSo far your space comes closest to how mine looks when a project is in process. Love it!
ReplyDeleteHey he wanted the real and unvarnished truth!!!
DeleteHello - visiting from Seth's blog hop and I love that you shared your table here with us all today!
ReplyDeleteAnd I had a similar situation (when I had an office job!) that my desk and space were quite tidy and organized, but my studio space and table - RARELY! It does seem that many of us work within a 12" space...how curious!
I've noticed that 12" is about all many of us can keep clean. Last night one of my piles hit the floor.
DeleteI had paper everywhere.
Yep, that looks about like my sort of chaos, too! I end up narrowing down my useable space to a tiny portion of the work surface, too. And then I get annoyed with myself and implode. Sigh.
ReplyDeleteBoo that is what my brain looks like... It is like a portrait lol... But I have to say this looks pretty fine to me as far as desks go... I wish I had enough room to be a bit messier, I find chaos to be refreshing creatively... Xx
ReplyDeleteHa ha... I am sure your brain looks better than my work space
DeleteI start with a clean table - then the available space gets smaller and smaller and smaller until I have to clean up all over again!
ReplyDeleteSame with me!
DeleteMy desk at work use to be neat, too. Maybe getting messy is an artist thing! :-)
ReplyDeleteIsn't it great that as your work area shrinks you get so much more done. Nice studio table. xox
ReplyDeleteJust like mine ... nice to meet you and your table. Ann
ReplyDeleteIsn't it funny that we can make beauty in the midst of such chaos?! I am the same.
ReplyDeleteWe can all relate! Lovely messy table!
ReplyDeleteI feel like the odd man out, since my work space seldom gets this way. I can see how creativity can be stifled if you are used to creating like this. I'm really delighted you showed your work space, though. It shows that you are truly a creative person.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing your workspace :) mine is just the same and is slowly spreading!!
ReplyDeleteEven when I clean it, it returns to this very quickly.
DeleteBoo! Where are you? Are you under all of those yummy artsie things?!!
ReplyDeleteCool! I'm loving these glimpses! It's so easy to get caught up in the idea that others are neater, more organized, less messy... much better to know we all throw caution to the wind to honor our creativity! :)
ReplyDeleteIt's odd yet fun how the messiness helps my creativity.
Deleteha! you'll never see this in "where women create" but it's more reality than those are ~thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing your space. When I am doing a painting or art journal project my space looks like this, too. You just need all the "stuff" at hand!
ReplyDeleteBoo, I am the absolute same way as far as working on 12 inches of space! What's a crafter to do?? I keep telling myself I will pare down all the stuff I have but I cannot bear to get rid of it...I just know I really need it!!
