Unexpected Gift and Long Distance Love

This piece was inspired by the orange envelope that was included in my birthday gift from my friend, Mo and her grandson, Logan.  We call him the Wee Man.  I love that name. It sounds so Scottish.. which is exactly what he is.  A Wee Scottish Man.

This page was done with all recycled and left pieces of paper. The half smile was on a Amazon gift envelope.  The houses are Dylusion stamps that were my actual gift of Wee Man and Mo.  This page is busier than some of my work.  I really like that about it.  It conveys my excitement about my totally unexpected gift from my Scottish friends.

I was having a very hard day when I found this package on my porch. It was a complete surprise and it brought tears to my eyes. This unexpected gift comforted me more than I can ever say.  Our world is filled with wonderful caring people.  I know many people say that the internet is keeping people from interacting with others. That may be true in many cases.  I just know that I met a lady from Scotland through an art blog and twice now, she has come to my aid when I was having a hard time. The first time she talked to me online in the middle of the night when I was missing my mom and now she and her wee man cheer me with a very unexpected birthday gift. Maybe I'm the exception but I'm finding very personal relationships online.

  1. Oh my word Boo, your words have just brought tears to MY eyes. I am so touched that our gift brought you such joy and I feel very honoured that you were moved to create this beautiful page and talk so lovingly about Wee Man & I ((hugs))
I think the internet has made the world a whooole lot smaller and allows people to make the personal relationships that mean as much as those in physical proximity. I am so very proud to be your friend ((hugs)) :o))

Those houses are so very cute aren't they?! And I like how you made them on book paper and the whole rest of the background is fabulous. I like this 'busier page' of yours. Very much :o)

I realise why I 'forgot' about this blog, Feedburner can't be working properly. I thought I perhaps hadn't joined by email, but after trying again, I am! So, 'Yah, booo, sux, Feedburner!' :p Send me my emails! :p Lol

  2. I love the art. I also agree that the internet can isolate people t their homes but on the other hand it has opened the world to meeting some of the finest people. So glad that has happened for you.

  4. I love your vibrant art!! What a very kind gesture your friends have made. I would not say that the internet keeps me from socializing with others close by in person. I have met some of the kindest, supportive and yes, generous souls thru internet. I've also been known to get some of their phone numbers and surprise them with a call a few times:)

  7. So sweet! A loving package from loving people across the ocean to bright up the day - and artwork - by another loving person. Couldn't be better! :-) I love the internet, how it makes the world seem smaller, and I've met so many people online that have made my life richer. I've met quite a few of them in person, too, and everyone, without exception, are true gems!
